| Commemorating the 175th Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario (centre), hosted the Ontario Black History Society at a reception on Nov 4, 2008 to mark the passing of the British Imperial Act in 1833 which abolished slavery in Britain and its colonies. | OBHS Celebrates Woodstock Town Crier The OBHS organized bus trip to Woodstock, Ontario on August 7, 2004. OBHS President, Rosemary Sadlier, along with other dignitaries honoured former Woodstock Town Crier, George Washington Jones by opening a Walkway in his memory.
