WE NEED YOUR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
As a non-profit organization, the OBHS is supported by the Ontario Ministry of Culture and The Ontario Trillium Foundation, but rely heavily on the generosity of private donations in order to carry out our work.
Important aspects of our work include public education where we use audio-visual presentations in schools and organizations, and speeches to educate the public about the importance of Black heritage. We also write contemporary and historical profiles and record and preserve oral history through taped interviews with members of Ontario Black communities. A significant part of our work is to encourage the youth to become involved in the Society's activities through the Leaders of Tomorrow program. But to carry out all these programs, we need your help financially to sustain our ever dwindling budget.
In fact, if we did not have to raise about 90% of what we needed to operate, the OBHS would have had a full time researcher on staff to document archival and contemporary historical events. We would even have devoted more financial resources to maintain our popular website and kept it up to date with current information. Your financial resources will desperately help us build our OBHS Cultural Centre /Museum of African Canadian History, a Centre which would make us all proud and become a prominent museum where we can study, preserve and promote the contribution of Black people in Ontario as we march forward into this century.
If you are able to assist financially, we invite you to use the Donation Button through CANADAHELPS below to make your contribution.
